Carl A. Santa Maria, CPCU
Carl has had over 35 successful years in the risk management and insurance industry. He began his career at a major stock insurance company and managed the Major Account Underwriting Operations in New York and Texas. In the late seventies he joined an established brokerage in Houston and was admitted to partnership the following year. The firm was eventually sold to a Los Angeles based public broker, and Carl moved to San Francisco to become Executive Vice President of the local office. He served in this capacity for more than ten years, through several acquisitions until he left what had become Aon Risk Services to join a regional broker as President of Risk Management Services. Four years later Carl formed Santa Maria & Company with a focus on companies that are in need of the risk management expertise and customized service on either an outsourced or supplemental basis. Carl is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and has served on numerous industry committees and organization boards. He has been a speaker and lecturer on various industry topics and recently moderated a seminar about the current state of California workers compensation.

Craig M. Santa Maria
Craig began his career as an underwriter for a California workers compensation insurance company. His responsibilities included marketing and analyzing risks strictly for California Workers Compensation customers. Craig eventually moved to a multi-line carrier, where he worked on commercial general liability, auto, property, inland marine, and excess umbrella as well as workers compensation insurance. Craig broadened his horizons further when he joined a highly specialized company where his underwriting role emphasized outside marketing of major accounts for casualty lines of business and included the development of alternative risk financing programs for Fortune 1000 companies. Within a couple of years a national competitor in the Risk Management Arena successfully recruited Craig. In addition to overseeing accounts in the Risk Finance Division for Fortune 1000 companies, Craig started up an Alternative Risk Finance Division for large middle market companies. Two years later Craig joined his father in forming Santa Maria & Company.

Edward M. Schumann                                                     Ed has been in the commercial insurance industry for over 30 years.  During this time, he has specialized in designing risk management and insurance programs for a variety of business segments.  His client focus has included contractors, manufacturing, warehousing/distribution, transportation, and property developers/owners.  He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he attended on an athletic scholarship.  As an active member of the community, he has been the past President of the Livermore Valley Rotary Club, past President of the Messiah Lutheran Church, and past President of the Construction Craft Training Center, as well as serving on the California Bear Backers fund raising committee.  Ed is married with two children and resides in Alamo.

David J. Bamford
David began his career as an Account Analyst working with Carl at what ultimately became Aon Risk Services. He specialized in analytical research and development of risk analysis models. His responsibilities grew to include the annual planning and day-to-day management of all aspects of large commercial risk management accounts. Five years later he migrated to the wholesale side of the insurance brokerage industry. His responsibilities included new business development and management of existing books of business. David also assisted in the development of customized Agency Management Systems at two different wholesale brokerage firms over the course of four years. David eventually returned to retail risk management by joining Marsh, Inc. as Assistant Vice President where he was charged with the responsibility of lead casualty advisor for several Fortune 500 clients. In August of 2002 David reunited with Carl when he accepted an offer to be a Vice President with Santa Maria & Company.

Michael A. Borges, CPA, ARM
Michael has over 25 years experience in the insurance industry. He began his career in public accounting as an auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick. He served 17 years as a senior executive with a national retail brokerage house, specializing in alternative risk finance including captive, finite and self-insurance programs. In addition to his customer sales and service responsibilities, Michael has served in CFO and COO capacities. He also has 5 years experience with a national wholesale brokerage firm. Michael joined Santa Maria & Company as a Vice President in November of 2003. Michael is a Certified Public Accountant and has his Associate in Risk Management certification. He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Janelle Krivoruk
Janelle began her career in the insurance industry with Santa Maria & Company and has been with them for over five years.  She joined Santa Maria & Company as an  Administrative  Assistant and quickly grew into the role of an Account Executive.  Janelle is a graduate of California State University, Hayward, where she achieved a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Marketing.  She is currently in the process of attaining her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.  Janelle is also very involved in the community and Rotary International.  She is a member of the Dublin Rotary Club and is currently on the Board of Directors and Special Projects Committee. 

Victoria R. Santa Maria, JD

Victoria's role at Santa Maria and Company is claims oversight and advocacy.  She works closely with clients and the insurance company claims adjusters and attorneys to ensure the matter is getting proper attention and resources.  She also provides coverage analysis in an effort to trigger coverage.  Victoria is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Golden Gate University School of Law with Honors.  She was awarded the Am Jur Award for her writing, published an article nationally, earned Dean's List honors and served as an editor of the Golden Gate Law Review.  The concentration of her legal practice was complex construction defect cases where she conducted mediations and trials, negotiated settlements, lead depositions, and drafted motions and responded to discovery.  The majority of her practice involved analyzing coverage.
