Ernst & Young |
Climate change presents this year's most serious
strategic risk for the insurance industry, according to
a report released by Ernst & Young on Wednesday.

| TRIA 2007 Extension |
The Terrorism Risk
Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007, which
extends the expiring Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of
2002 (TRIA as amended and extended in 2005) was passed
into law on December 26, 2007. The extension act
leaves most of the provisions of TRIA intact and extends
TRIA for seven years, to expire at the end of
2014. However, there is one significant change
which is the inclusion of domestic sponsored acts of
terrorism under the act, previously referred to as
"non-certified acts of terrorism".
Another change in
the Act, as extended in 2007, requires that insurers
disclose to their policyholders the existence of a $100
billion cap on insured
losses. |
